O desmatamento na Amaz\u00f4nia Legal, entre agosto de 2023 e julho de 2024, totalizou 6.288 km\u00b2, uma queda de 30,6% em rela\u00e7\u00e3o ao ano anterior, segundo o Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (Inpe). Esse \u00e9 o menor \u00edndice desde 2015 e o menor percentual em 15 anos, de acordo com o Minist\u00e9rio do Meio Ambiente e Mudan\u00e7a do Clima (MMA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O sistema Prodes, usado para monitoramento anual, registrou redu\u00e7\u00f5es significativas em Rond\u00f4nia <\/a>(-62,5%) e Mato Grosso (-45,1%), enquanto Roraima teve aumento de 53%. Nos 70 munic\u00edpios priorit\u00e1rios para controle do desmatamento, 78% mostraram queda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Segundo o governo, a diminui\u00e7\u00e3o do desmatamento evitou a emiss\u00e3o de 359 milh\u00f5es de toneladas de CO\u2082. Mariana Napolitano, do WWF-Brasil, celebrou a queda, mas alertou para a necessidade de acelera\u00e7\u00e3o na redu\u00e7\u00e3o, dada a gravidade das mudan\u00e7as clim\u00e1ticas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No Cerrado, a taxa oficial de desmatamento foi de 8.174 km\u00b2, uma redu\u00e7\u00e3o de 25,7%, a primeira queda em quatro anos.
