Segundo o Patriarcado Latino de Jerusal\u00e9m, o ataque foi causado por um tanque de guerra israelense. O Vaticano confirmou a informa\u00e7\u00e3o e classificou o ato como um “ataque direto” contra a igreja. Em pronunciamento, o papa Le\u00e3o XIV lamentou o ocorrido e voltou a pedir um cessar-fogo imediato em Gaza. \u201cNada justifica o ataque a civis inocentes\u201d, afirmou o Patriarcado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Israel nega ter atacado locais religiosos intencionalmente, e afirmou que o proj\u00e9til pode ter sido um disparo \u201cperdido\u201d, prometendo investigar. A igreja, situada na Cidade de Gaza, sofreu danos estruturais, com o telhado e janelas destru\u00eddos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A comunidade crist\u00e3 em Gaza \u00e9 extremamente pequena, com apenas cerca de 135 cat\u00f3licos em meio a uma popula\u00e7\u00e3o majoritariamente mu\u00e7ulmana. Desde o in\u00edcio do conflito em 2023, crist\u00e3os t\u00eam buscado abrigo na par\u00f3quia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
